Direct-to-Film (DTF) printing has revolutionized the world of custom apparel and textile decoration by offering a fast, versatile, and high-quality transfer method. The Core DTF Process, Step-by-Step:

The journey begins with your digital design. Using a specialized DTF printer, the artwork is printed in mirror image onto a unique, coated PET film. This film acts as the temporary carrier for the design throughout the process.

Immediately after printing, while the ink is still wet, a crucial step follows: the application of adhesive powder. A fine, heat-activated powder is evenly sprinkled over the entire printed area. This powder is the key to the transfer’s durability, as it will create a strong bond between the ink and the final fabric.

Next, the powdered film enters a curing phase. It is passed through a drying oven or a hot air dryer set to approximately 160°C (320°F). This heat serves two purposes: it evaporates the ink’s moisture and, more importantly, melts and cures the adhesive powder, fusing it permanently with the ink layer on the film.

Once cured, the transfer is ready for its final destination. The prepared DTF film is placed, powder-side down, onto the chosen garment or fabric. A heat press is then used to apply significant heat and pressure. This action melts the adhesive once more, allowing it to penetrate the fabric fibers and securely lock the design in place.
